•Pasta-bly the best STEM challenge ever!• 🌉

For our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Day last week, our Secondary students showed off their engineering mettle by putting together innovative designs using pasta to build a bridge. And not just any bridge - it had to support as much weight as possible! 😱

Im-pasta-ble? We think not! 💪

By incorporating scientific principles behind forces like compression, tension, torsion and shear, a group from Y10 successfully engineered a bridge that withstood 2 kilograms of weight! They were followed closely by two groups from Year 7, who designed a truss system that exerted a force opposite and equal to the force of a load.. What a feat! 🫡

Looking forward to see more pioneers of the sciences in Pelita! The pasta-bilities are endless! 🍝
